Hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing is a way of letting go of any fears or concerns you may have about birthing and conditioning yourself to release nature’s own painkillers, our endorphins, to help with pain relief during labour.

Hypnobirthing is a combination of different techniques and philosophies that have been used around the world for many years.

There are many hypnobirthing programmes but the Hypnobirthing Australia ™ Positive Birth Programmes have been designed for Australian women and use many of these techniques and strategies to help empower a pregnant woman and her birth partner to have the most positive, calm and joyous birth possible. Hypnobirthing Australia ™ also offer a Positive Caesarean Birth Course for those women who are having a caesarean section.

The strategies taught in the Hypnobirthing Australia ™ programmes include relaxation, education, music, massage, acupressure, affirmations and visualisations, breathing and self-hypnosis, and many other strategies to help you through pregnancy, birth and beyond; the skills you will learn truly are life skills.

Pain Management

I have adored being a physio for 30+ years! Along the way, I have developed many skills, experiences, and attended many courses which enable me to look at a client and their issues holistically. I have a Master Degree in Pain Management, certificates in Mental Health, Holistic Counselling, Hypnotherapy and many other areas. I also taught traditional antenatal classes for many years in Singleton with the midwives and community nurses from Singleton District Hospital but the Hypnobirthing Australia programmes cover this info and much more!!.

I offer pregnancy and remedial massage, pain/injury assessment and treatment using traditional “physiotherapy” techniques, education, hypnotherapy and relaxation, laser acupuncture, and I design exercise programmes for my clients based on their needs; this includes both pre and post-natal exercises. I love Pilates and yoga and have completed some Pilates mat work training and love to use this to help with pain, tightness, and weakness.

I make my own massage oils and muscle balms using organic ingredients and the finest essential oils. (It is important to note however that essential oils are recommended not to be used in the first trimester of pregnancy, and many others are unsuitable throughout pregnancy).

I also offer instruction in the use of, and hire out Obstetric TENS units to help with discomfort during labour.

I am accredited to teach both the Hypnobirthing Australia ™ Positive Birth Programme and The Positive Caesarean Programmes. These courses teach the pregnant woman and her birth partner many skills and strategies to put in their “toolbox” for birth. These programmes also help empower the couple with education - Knowledge is Power-  and it is important to be able to make informed decisions along the pathway of pregnancy, birth, and life itself!
